Recent studies have shown that Asthma is worse for obese people.

Obesity is directly linked t the development of dynamic hyperinflation- a condition wherein the air in the lungs get trapped and cannot be exhaled. This is a common occurrence in asthmatic patients, but was found to occur more in the obese patients.

A study of 30 asthmatic men and women concluded these results. The group was separated according to their BMI.

Obese individuals may need more asthma treatment or medicine to counter the same “strength” of asthma attack in a non-obese individual.
