Yikes! A recent study shows that Americans get 20% of their daily calorie intake from their drinks! This is waayyy too much calories to be coming from liquids, when water is supposedly calorie free and tea, coffee, and fresh fruit juices contain very little calories!
The culprits? Pre-sweetened drinks, soda, juice drinks, and sports drinks!
We have to find ways to cut back! A recent study in Harvard has concluded that a child who takes a serving of a sweetened drink daily increases his risk of becoming obese by a whopping 60%!
We need to stop this epidemic!
We need to start drinking more water, encouraging our kids to drink more water, and purging unhealthy drinks out of the house.
As parents, we can also help by writing our children’s schools to discourage school cafeterias from serving soda and artificial and calorie filled sweet drinks and juices!
These little steps may be all we need to start living healthier lives and curbing obesity!
