1. Do not simply focus on the pounds lost- Success can be measured in other ways, like an increase of endurance, or success at eating healthy meals. The weight isn’t the focus but a healthier lifestyle is!
2. Block out cultural messages than support being thin- Stop buying beauty magazines, and do not support shows with stars that are unrealistically thin, Make your teen realize that very few people look like that in the real world!
3. Visit a nutritionist- A nutritionist may be able to provide more effective tips, or can even map out a diet for your teen!
4. Help your teen find motivation from within- He will never lose weight unless she wants to, so help him get to that point of wanting to!
5. Make it fun- the gym isn’t the only ticket to exercise. Try different activities and let your teen engage in the one he resonates to!
