Adolescents is a crucial time in every persons life. More than ever, they are becoming more conscious about their bodies and the way they look. Help your overweight teen shed some weight with these helpful tips:
1. Let go of the blame and guilt: Teens should stop blaming anyone or anything for the cause of their weight. They should also stop feeling insecure as this breeds insecurity!
2. Look at the journey as long-term. Teens should remember that healthy weight loss isn’t a short term goal. Effective and permanent weight loss is a long term affair and involves a thorough change of lifestyle and eating habits.
3. Set goals you can actually accomplish: A loss of a pound a week is actually very ideal and very healthy. It is also very doable
4. Incorporate exercise into your daily routine. Exercise lets teens feel more energized than just cutting back on food which could make them tired all the time.
5. Get everyone in the project- Don’t single out your teen! The family should show their support by eating and exercising the same way as the person wanting to lose weight!
